Outbreak - Week 1
Presidents, premieres, prime ministers, entire governments disappeared instantly, like a fragile house of cards in a hurricane. Some hid deep underground or holed up in fortified strongholds, but most were swallowed up by the dead, never to be heard from again.
Created in a biosafety level 4 lab in Wuhan, China, a bioweapon meant to sicken and quickly kill an enemy population—leaving intact infrastructure, resources, and vast swaths of fertile farmland—instead causes the infected to die and return as mindless, flesh-eating zombies.
When the bioweapon escapes the BSL-4 lab and all efforts to contain its rapid spread within Hubei Province fail, the Chinese Communist Party leadership dispatch agents to the United States with one mission: to level the playing field by seeding an unsuspecting American population with what will eventually be known worldwide as the Omega virus.
As the zombie scourge spreads like wildfire, the People’s Liberation Army takes advantage, landing sizeable ground forces on America’s shores.
Now, nearly four years later, having lost many loved ones and brothers in arms to Omega, Captain Cade Grayson—father, patriot, Delta Force commander—has one goal in life: to arm his soon-to-be seventeen-year-old daughter, Raven, with all the knowledge and skills necessary to survive their rapidly changing world and live up to the nickname bestowed upon her by her godfather, Duncan Winters: Bird of the Apocalypse.
While on a foraging mission, Raven presses her father to finally make good on a promise made to her in the early days of the zombie apocalypse.
Taking advantage of a mandatory stand-down from commanding his Pale Riders team, Cade leads a solemn father/daughter mission that will take them through hundreds of miles of western New America—an unconquered frontier teeming with zombie hordes, roving bands of opportunistic breathers, and the scattered remnants of a mostly defeated invading army.
To make an already daunting mission even more dangerous, the Graysons have reason to believe they are being stalked by an unknown entity, its motives unclear.
Will Raven gain the skills necessary to help her finally begin to emerge from under her father’s shadow?
Will a promise fulfilled heal old wounds and further strengthen familial
bonds?
Or will the infamous Mr. Murphy once again throw a monkey wrench into the operation and further delay much-needed closure?
Come along and find out who has what it takes to Survive the Zombie Apocalypse.

After nearly twenty years of direct involvement in the seemingly non-stop combat operations in the Middle East—first as a sniper in the 75thRanger Regiment 2nd Battalion, then as the youngest member of the Army’s storied Delta Force—Cade Grayson is back home in Portland, Oregon, trying his best to reintegrate into civilian life.
Everything changes when a pair of Pelican cases are deposited on Cade’s porch by a stranger driving an unmarked panel van. Knowing in his gut that the unannounced delivery has a connection to his old life, and that whatever is contained within the hard cases must have something to do with the recent lightning-fast fall of Kabul, Afghanistan and the total capitulation of the remaining U.S. forces to the Taliban, he cracks the seals reluctantly.
Sent by his former Delta commander, the cases contain proof that Al-Simoom, a terrorist organization whose leaders Cade’s Pale Riders team had captured and put away for life in Kabul’s Pul-e-Charkhi prison, are claiming responsibility for the suicide bombing at Abbey Gate—a despicable act that killed thirteen U.S. service members and scores of innocent Afghanis.
But that’s not all. Intel suggests that in the aftermath of the suicide bombing at Hamid Karzai International Airport, dozens of Al-Simoom members melted into the agitated crowds escaping the carnage and stole their way aboard airplanes bound for the United States.
Though the number of Al-Simoom cells and their whereabouts in CONUS are unknown, one thing is clear: With the twenty-year anniversary of 9/11 fast approaching, America is a target-rich environment—and Cade Grayson and his fellow former Pale Riders are at the top of the list.
With no time to waste, Cade sends an overture to former teammates requesting they put life on hold and convene at the Grayson home.
Cade and his reconstituted team learn the whereabouts of one cell leader, verified through facial recognition software. With little more than the city and the terrorist’s last known location to work with, the Pale Riders go on the offensive. Assisted by allies still hardwired into the special operations community and with the unsolicited financial backing of a billionaire benefactor, the Pale Riders set out to find the one thread that, when pulled, will lead to the unraveling of Al-Simoom’s deadly plans.

RIKER’S APOCALYPSE: THE PLEA
Edited by Monique Happy Editorial Services
110,000 words
Winter is coming. With the zombie apocalypse raging all around them, and the last vestiges of government teetering on the verge of collapse, Army veteran Lee Riker, his younger sister Tara, Steven “Steve-O” Piontek, and their Trinity House companions, are working feverishly to fortify their New Mexico redoubt.
After a deadly encounter with survivors looking to settle a score, a skirmish that left some of the Trinity group nursing new wounds—physical and mental—cracks are beginning to show in their fragile alliance.
While part of the group is off foraging for supplies in the Santa Fe suburbs, one member is scouring the airwaves with Trinity’s long-range communications gear. Searching for answers to a question she has yet to divulge to even those closest to her, Lia instead intercepts a plea for help she finds impossible to ignore.
As Lia lobbies the others to accompany her on a rescue mission, another member discovers in the bunker beneath Trinity a map marked with mysterious symbols. Believing the symbols denote sites that may contain supplies necessary to ride out winter, several members volunteer to accompany Lia on a mission they hope will kill two birds with one stone.
Will the group cover the hundreds of miles of zombie infested southwest desert in time to help the person in distress?
Will the map prove to be boon or bust?
Will Lia’s one burning question finally be answered?
With danger lurking around every corner, will the group allow their differences to draw them even further apart, or will they get over themselves long enough to survive one more day in the zombie apocalypse?
Come along and find out!
